luigIt’s very exciting when you start planning your next trip, isn’t it?
But then you remember that you have to think about what to pack and you start getting a little anxious. You know how challenging it can be to pack light and take the exact amount of things that you’ll need, well organized in your luggage.
I don’t know about you, but no matter how many trips I’ve done, I still feel that I could pack lighter and more efficiently.
Although I have myself developed some packing techniques, there is a better way, an easier one.
There are plenty of travel gear available today that will help you on that task of organizing your luggage. The goal is to have things easily at hand when you need them. Also, some multifuncional accessories may be life saving if you can’t find a supermarket near you.
So, beyond the accessories I already use, I also did a research to recommend you the gear I found more useful. That will definitely make your trip less stressfull. It will give you more time to enjoy the places instead of wasting it with organizing your luggage all the time.
Here are a few must haves to make travel easy, along with the brands that I personally use and love. I’ve included a few more and reviews in the most below.

Still don’t have a carry on luggage? It all starts with it, so if you don’t have one yet, check out this other article with the 5 best carry on backpacks and how to chose the perfect one for you.
I separated the items by category to make it easier to chose what you might need:
Organizing Stuff
Packing Cubes / Luggage organizers
Travel luggage organizers, or packing cubes, are life savers! It’s simply one of the best travel accessories inventions so far. It helps you keep your stuff organized, to fit them better and separate by type or size.
This particular 7 pieces set is very versatile. It comes with 3 different size clothes storage bags, 1 bra underwear bag, 1 shoes bag, 1 toiletry bag, 1 laundry bag. All luggage organizers you may need in one set and available on different colors and even stamps!
Toiletry Bag
In case you need a larger toiletry bag, this might be the one for you. It’s waterproof and carries many items, with 3 different zipped and mashed pockets. The fact that it has a hanger and it’s waterproof makes it a perfect toiletry bag for every type of travel.
Travel bottles / liquid containers
As you probably know, there’s a TSA approved limit of 10 liquid items of a maximum 100ml each, and they must be carried in a transparent bag.
Although you can buy all toiletry items at your destination, it’s a safer choice to bring your own travel bottles with your favorite products. There are a couple of reasons for that:
First, you never know if you’ll find an open supermarket or pharmacy near your hotel, specially if you’re going to remote places or if you arrive at night. Second, you make sure there’s space for it when organizing your luggage, instead of having to find a way to fit it once you’re there. I find this is the perfect set for it.
Electronics Accessories Organizer
If you are a digital nomad, work while you travel or simply take a lot of electronics with you, this may also be a handy option. This is something I miss everytime I start packing, as all the cables and small accessories get messed up and eventually lost for not being stored in an organized bag. You can easily organize Cables, USB Hard Drive, Plug, External Flash Drive and More.
Safe Travel
TSA Approved Locks
You’ll definitely want to lock your luggage, even if it is a carry on. Why? Simply because you don’t know which situations you’ll encounter in your destination and there are several situations that you’ll want to have your stuff locked in for extra safety.
These Sure Lock TSA approved locks were chosen because they have it all: Flexible cables that will fit in almost every luggage, case or locker, easy to read and setting combination numbers, inspection indicator (that will let you know when TSA opens your bag) and very durable.
Money Belt
This item is certainly one that many people take for granted, but it’s not only very useful, but it will also give you peace of mind while on the road. Carrying a money belt with you means that you’ll have your most important stuff in the safest place: under your clothes. You can carry your passport and other small documents, credit cards, money, keys and mobile. It’s also a great substitute for a Wallet, that would occupy a precious space in your daypack.
It’s important to consider some features when choosing your money belt. Remember, the stuff you are carrying there are some of the most important as they are hard to be replaced if lost or stolen. This Day Tip Money Belt is made with 100% blocking RFID material, it’s waterproof and has an undercover fanny pack. It also has 100% money back guarantee.
Packing Light
E-book Reader – Kindle
If you don’t have an ebook reader yet, it is definitely a must have! It allows you to carry thousands of books in one single small device. The battery lasts many hours and the screen is glare-free, which is great for youreyes. I prefer this intermediate model that has built in adjustable light that allows you to read at any time of the day or night. If you prefer one that supports audible books, you can go with Kindle Oasis, that offers both built-in light and audible when connected to a paired bluetooth device. You can check the comparison of the three versions on the product’s page.
Outdoor beach blanket
If you are backpacking, traveling to the beach or going for outdoor activities, this waterproof blanket might be something to consider. This Waterproof Ground Cover, Sand Proof Mat is perfect for Picnic, Travel, Hiking, Camping, Festival, Sports and other outdoor activities.
Microfiber towel
This antibacterial Microfiber Towel is a must have when it comes to traveling light. It is fast drying, super absorbent and ultra compact. Suitable for Camping, Gym, Beach, Swimming and Backpacking. Will fit perfectly in your luggage and daypack.
Lightweight Packable Daypack
This is something I missed during my trips. Even though I have an Osprey Farpoint 55, which comes with a detachable daypack, I carry my electronics and personal stuff in it. So everytime I needed a daypack for hiking or spending the day walking around, I had to unpack all the stuff inside and squash in my already full main luggage. Definitely you’ll thank me for this one!
The model I chose is really lighweight and gets smaller than 7 inches when packed. It also seems to have quite comfort straps and some extra zip pockets for organizing. It’s also water resistant, which helps on rainy days or outdoor activities.
Extra Comfort
Travel neck pillow (scarf pillow)
An airplane pillow is useful when you are going for long air trips that requires you to sleep in the airplane – your neck will thank you forever for this extra care. But I always found those U shaped pillows a bit uncomfortable and an extra volume to carry, that wouldn’t fit in my luggage later. I haven’t tried this scarf version, but I definitely want to try it in my next trip. It seems pretty comfy and by removing the neck support and memory foam, I have an extra warm scarf to wear during my trip!
Extra Fun
Travel Yoga Mat
If you’re like me and can’t stay too many days without your yoga practice, you know how not having a proper mat can affect your mood, right? There is a solution for that! This thin eco friendly travel yoga mat was made for free spirited traveler yogis just like us. It is super lightweight (2lbs only) and comes with a carrying case, so it’s foldable. It’s perfect for other activities too, such as Hot Yoga, Bikram, Pilates, Aerobics, Exercise, Stretching and so on. This product is machine washable, too! (Woooho, no more stinky yoga mat!)
Ultralight Travel Hammock
Introducing the best travel hammock, with innovative design from the originator of lightweight Brazilian style hammocks, the Easy Traveller camping hammock provides the conforming comfort of a traditional hammock with the strength of parachute nylon cloth construction. This hammock is ultra portable with a small stuff sack. The Easy Traveller can be used with our new Micro Strap hanging system or your existing hanging system.
MacGyver Style
Travel adapter plug (international/universal Electronic power adapter)
No need for long speeches. Having a universal electronic adapter/converter is the guarantee that you’ll be able to charge all your electronic devices no matter where you go. This partricular oneis more robust and can charge up to 5 devices. If you’re looking for a simpler (and cheaper) plug, only for small devices, you can go with this one.
